Ingram Tourist Information

Located in the scenic Breamish Valley on the eastern outskirts of the Northumberland National Park, the tiny village of Ingram is a small settlement with a big history, stretching all the way back to the Early Medieval Era. Lying just 8 kilometres from the Scottish Border and on the edge of the Cheviot Hills, this quiet little village is an outstanding destination for a restful country retreat, with plenty of opportunities for walking, hiking and cycling activities.

Unmissable natural attractions in and around Ingram include the stunning Linhope Spout, a grand 60-foot waterfall just a few miles from the village, well-favoured by walkers and hikers. Also in the vicinity is the impressive Hedgehope Hill, Northumberland’s second highest hill, standing at 714 metres and displaying a wonderful domed summit, great for a challenging hike or even just for admiring from afar.

An area rich in ancient history, the Breamish Valley boasts several prehistoric settlements, including the aged settlement of Greaves Ash and a number of Bronze Age, Iron Age and early medieval remains located at Cochrane Pike, Linhope Burn and Brough Law nearby.

History and architecture buffs will also be thrilled by the many lovely Grade II listed buildings that are dotted around Ingram, including the attractive parish Church of St. Michael, with interiors dating back to the 11th century and an appealing 13th century tower.
